Here's what you'll need to make these watercolor feather cookies:
- Roll-out cookie dough (use your favorite recipe or get mine in the tutorial shop)
- Feather cookie cutter
- Flood consistency royal icing
- 12" decorating bags
- Decorating tip 3
- Scribe tool
- Brushes
- Gold pearl dust
- Alcohol or flavored extract for painting with food coloring (why? read this)
- Paint palette or small dishes
- Colors: The Wilton Color Right color system was used to create all of the icing colors in this set of cookies

I have been watching your beautiful work for the past year now and I have a request for you that I think would be helpful for your subscribers. I used to throw away my messed up cookies or put them in a pile for the kids to eat, but along the way, I have figured out ways to salvage the cookies. Now I don't throw away any cookies. Do you have or could you make a video on how to SAVE cookies from the usual boo boos. So far I have learned that a broken cookie could be glued back with icing, icing can be scraped off very easily with a stencil scraper. What other ideas do you have to make the perfect product? There is only one video on youtube that shows one technique.
That's a great idea, Suzanne. Thank you for the suggestion! I will put together a video with my tips on salvaging cookies. Aside from the two tips you've shared, I also use a damp brush to wipe away edible ink marker if I've made a mistake when drawing on a cookie. I'll be sure to include that one in the video along with any others I can think of.
