Watercolor Crystal Cookies with Edible Ink Marker (Cookie Art Club Premium Tutorial)
These watercolor crystal cookies were inspired by a box from sendacake.com that I ordered for a friend’s birthday (she let me have the box for this video 😄). I’ve been looking on the site but I can’t seem to find this box listed as an option anymore but they do have many other designs if you’re looking for a unique gift.

I used a watercolor technique with edible ink markers and vodka to create the cartoonish look of these crystals. Alcohol is used to paint on royal icing because it evaporates very quickly, which means that it won’t dissolve the icing as you paint.

Here’s what you’ll need to make these watercolor crystal cookies
- Chilled sheet of cookie dough (recipe in the Cookie Art Club)
- Knife to cut cookies (I cut these cookies by hand rather than using a cookie cutter)
- Stiff consistency royal icing plus water for thinning
- Blue and pink edible ink markers
- 1 decorating bag
- 1 decorating tip 3
- 1 coupler
- 1 bag tie
- Scribe tool
- Round brush
- Thin brush
- White matte color dust
- Strong vodka or grain alcohol (I use alcohol when I paint on royal icing because it evaporates very quickly, which means that the liquid won’t dissolve the icing.)
- Paint palette or small dish
