Eid al-Adha falls at the end of July this year and since I have many followers on my blog and social media who celebrate, I thought it would be fun to create a beautiful set of Eid Cookies with symbols that represent the holiday.

When searching for inspiration for these Eid cookies, I came across lots of beautiful images with deep shades of purple and blue with gold embellishments.

If you’ve been following me for a while you probably know that painting with gold luster dust on royal icing requires the use of alcohol, so I had to think of another way to get gold decorations on these cookies.

The solution: Edible gold leaf! It’s not easy to work with but I love the result. I used Wilton’s Dab-N-Hold edible adhesive to apply the gold leaf to the royal icing transfers (see how to make the transfers in the video tutorial).

Next to the cookies is the Eid symbol template, 3 royal icing transfers on squares of parchment paper in the shape of Eid symbols, and a square plaque cookie cutter.
