The nails I'm wearing here (and the inspiration behind this design) are ColorStreet nail strips, which I started using over the summer when I was introduced to them by Burnt Cookies by Murrah.

Instructions

  1. Fit a decorating bag with a coupler and a decorating tip 3. Fill the bag with black flood consistency icing.
  2. Flood a plaque cookie with the black icing. Use a scribe tool to help shape the icing. Allow the icing to dry overnight.
  3. Cut a piece of parchment paper a little larger than the star cookies. Crumple it up and then flatten it out.
  4. Flood a star cookie with the black icing. Place the parchment paper on top of the wet icing and use the scribe tool to push it into place. Allow the icing to dry overnight.
  5. Trace the champagne glass templates on the plaque cookie using the scribe tool.
  6. Mix gold luster dust with a few drops of vodka.
  7. Use a fine tip brush to apply the gold paint to the black cookie. Paint the icing so that the gold is heavier at the top and fades as you reach the middle of the cookie. Add dots of gold paint to make it look more like glitter.
  8. Fit a decorating bag with a coupler and a decorating tip 1. Fill the bag with golden brown medium consistency icing.
  9. Fill in the champagne glasses with the golden brown icing. Use the scribe tool to help shape and smooth the icing. Allow the icing to dry for about an hour.
  10. Use the fine tip brush to paint the champagne glasses gold.
  11. Remove the parchment paper from the star cookies.
  12. Dust the icing with dry gold luster dust with a round decorator brush.
  13. Add a few more drops of vodka to the gold luster dust. Use the side of a fine tip brush to paint the raised areas of the textured icing.
  14. Pipe a bead border with the golden brown medium consistency icing and a decorating tip 1. Allow the icing to dry for at least 30 minutes before painting it gold.
