I made these pool party cookies as part of a collaboration with the talented Laura of Krazy Kool Cakes. She makes the cutest fondant cupcake toppers! Visit her YouTube channel to see her tutorial on how to make a fondant swimming pool cupcake topper to go along with your pool party cookies!

Here's what you'll need for this project:
- Roll out cookie dough (my Orange Vanilla Spice cookie recipe is available in my tutorial shop)
- 3-½" round cutter and 3" round cutter (I like these round cutters from Ateco)
- Flood consistency royal icing
- Medium consistency royal icing
- Stiff consistency royal icing
- Scribe tool
- Edible ink marker
- Piping gel
- Small turntable
- Round decorating tips 1, 2, 3 and a flat tip 45
Colors:
- Pink = Americolor deep pink
- Yellow = Wilton lemon yellow
- Blue = Wilton sky blue

While the piping gel will become dry to the touch after several hours, it will stick to a bag if the bag touches the surface. If you're going to wrap these cookies in cellophane bags for shipping, the rim of the pool should help to keep the bag up off the surface of the piping gel. Make sure that there's no slack in the bag when you seal it up so that it doesn't sag down and touch the gel.

Hi Amber ? how long does it take for piping gel to completely dry or does it always stay tacky? Thank you
I enjoy watching you decorate so much ! I have never ventured out to even try anything so encredible ! You are amazing & I simply get mesmerized over your videos ..... I want to try , I have a one year old grand daughter & this is one of those dreams I have , you know just having fun with the two of us in the kitchen baking ! But honestly I don't even know the name of the tool you always use !! The pick thing ! See - I am hopeless ... 🙁
I guess she will have to be happy watching your videos with me !!
Again Amber your skills are Amazing!!!
Lol! Thanks, Lisa! Baking with my grandma is how I got started on this path. I hope your granddaughter will enjoy watching my videos!
By the way, the pick thing is a scribe tool 🙂 It's also known as a scriber needle or modeling tool.
Hi Amber 🙂 how long does it take for piping gel to completely dry or does it always stay tacky? Thank you
hi! Is there a template I can download for the royal icing rafts? These pools are awesome!!!!!
Cool cookies! Where can I purchase a mini turntable like you used in the video? Thanks, Ellen
Thank you! I received the mini turntable as a gift, so I'm not sure where she got it! I'd recommend checking Amazon 🙂
Just curious for those pencil cookies why was it necessary to use gray royal icing for the metal band since it was going to b pained silver anyway???
Hi Rebecca! I find that the silver looks much better when it's applied to a gray base rather than white. This also applies to painting with gold - I start out with a brown icing base.
Hello! Your cookies are beautiful, and I love your tutorials, especially the ones on filigree. Does the piping gel on these cookies dry hard, or does it stay slightly wet? Thanks so much!
Thanks, Shannon!! The piping gel dries to the touch, but if you try to put it in a bag, it will stick to it. I wrote a little bit about that at towards the bottom of the post. I'm so glad you're enjoying my tutorials!
Amber. I made these cookies ...twice in fact. When the Cookies are baking the rim keeps falling off the cookie. I cut dough as you said, pressed lightly, lined up perfectly, put in freezer for about 10-15inutes. I am frustrated. What did I do wrong? Any suggestions on how to fix?
Hi Robin! I'd recommend that you try baking the rim separately and then attach it with icing.
Okay. I will give that a try. Thanks for the response.
Amber I love these!! Can't wait to run out to buy piping gel and try this! My head is already running away with ideas.
Thank you so much for the great tutorial!
I'm glad it has inspired you!! Thanks!
I wanted to know what the recipe for cookies.
Hi Jenifer! My cookie recipe is available here in the tutorial shop: https://www.sweetambs.com/products-page/videos/sweetambs-sugar-cookie-recipe/
Amber, would you be so kind to give us dimensions on the raft and the size circle used for the inner tube? Thanks.
Hi Robin! The raft is about 2 x 3/4" and the inner tube is 1" in diameter.
These are awesome!!! Where did you get that cookie turntable! I've been hoping something like that existed!! =)
Thanks, Kristen! This was given to me by a friend, but you can find a similar one here: https://www.cakesuppliesdepot.com/MINI-TURNTABLE-LAZY-SUSAN_p_644.html
