Wet-on-wet royal icing decorated cookies for Valentine’s Day
I had the idea to create a textured brown paper packaging cookie for Christmas a little too late in the season to use it for the holidays, so I decided to create a set of wet-on-wet royal icing decorated cookies for Valentine’s Day around this design.
One of the best parts about these, aside from the delicious chocolate and raspberry flavored cookie, is that they’re made with natural food coloring! The full video tutorial, printable template, color mixing instructions, along with my cookie and royal icing recipes are available in the Cookie Art Club.

To create the texture on this heart cookie, I placed a piece of crumpled parchment paper over the royal icing while it was still wet. The parchment paper easily peels off once the icing is dry.
Of course I had to add some wet-on-wet roses for this set of decorated Valentine’s Day cookies! The wet-on-wet royal icing rose is one of my favorite designs.
