Polka Dot Pumpkin Cookies with Royal Icing

Light blue, golden yellow, and peach have become my favorite color palette for fall ever since I saw this beautiful cake by Haniela’s a few years ago. I love how they look on these polka dot pumpkin cookies with royal icing roses and chrysanthemums! Watch the video and get the supply list below.

- Pumpkin cookie cutter

Colors (I used Chemaster)
- Light blue = Royal Blue and a touch of Coal Black
- Peachy pink = Rose Pink and a touch of Golden Yellow
- Golden yellow = Golden Yellow + Lemon Yellow
- Green = leftover golden yellow icing and rose pink icing mixed with Leaf Green food coloring

Instructions
- Draw the sections of the pumpkin with an edible ink marker.
- Fill in every other section with light blue flood consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 3. Use a scribe tool to help shape the icing.
- Pipe polka dots with white flood consistency icing and a tip 1 while the blue icing is still wet. Allow the icing to dry for at least 30 minutes.
- Fill in the remaining sections with the blue icing and pipe polka dots again.
- Attach a parchment paper square to a flower nail.
- Pipe roses with pink stiff consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 101.
- Pipe a chrysanthemum with golden yellow stiff consistency icing and a tip 59s.
- Pipe the stem of the pumpkin using the golden yellow stiff icing and tip 59s.
- Allow the cookies and the flowers to dry overnight.
- Paint the chrysanthemums with golden yellow and rose pink food coloring mixed with vodka. Paint it so that the color is more concentrated in the center of the flower. Very lightly paint the outer petals.
- Paint the stem of the pumpkin with gold luster dust mixed with vodka.
- Fit a decorating bag with a tip 352 and fill it with green stiff consistency icing.
- Use the green icing to attach the flowers to the pumpkin and then pipe leaves around them.
