Cute Ladybug Cookies Decorated With Royal Icing

I was inspired to make these ladybug cookies after seeing so many of them in our backyard enjoying the milkweed!

The spots on these ladybugs are piped with black flood consistency royal icing, but I took advantage of the chocolate cookie dough and left some of it showing rather than applying more black icing.

I added a little bit of leaf green and rose pink to blue icing to create this particular shade of blue on the daisy cookies. A star tip 16 is perfect for adding texture to the flower center!

Here's what you'll need to make these cute ladybug cookies decorated with royal icing

These supplies are available in my Amazon store unless otherwise noted.

  • Chilled sheet of cookie dough (I used my chocolate cut-out cookie recipe - available in the Cookie Art Club!)
  • 2” and 1” round cookie cutters 
  • 2-⅝” flower cookie cutter
  • Royal icing
  • Super Red, Royal Blue, Leaf Green, Rose Pink*, Lemon Yellow, and Coal Black food coloring (I used Chefmaster brand food coloring)
  • Scribe tool
  • 4 12” Decorating bags
  • 1 Tipless decorating bag
  • Wilton decorating tips 2, petal tip 101, and star tip 16
  • Couplers & Bag ties (I used Wilton brand)
