This was an early April Fools' Day prank for my kids Olive and Sidney. They were disappointed that the cake wasn't an actual stuffed animal, but they were happy to eat the cake!

Two cakes decorated to look like crocheted bunnies sit on purple Easter grass in front of a pink bokeh background.

Since I'm not experienced with sculpting layer cakes, I used a cake pop mixture to shape these bunnies and then covered them in modeling chocolate. Modeling chocolate is a lot like fondant, but it tastes better, in my opinion!

To give these cute bunny cakes a crocheted look, I piped beads of royal icing in alternating directions and then I covered the icing with granulated sugar. The sugar I used is called golden sugar and it has a beautiful light beige color, which was perfect for this adorable Easter bunny cake!
