A few weeks ago, the cookie community filled newsfeeds everywhere with photos of butterfly cookies in a show support for our sweet friend Jill of Jill FCS to help her through a difficult time. It was then that I realized that I had never made a butterfly cookie* and so I created these for her.

Use the liner brush with black gel paste mixed with alcohol (use less alcohol than before to make the color more concentrated) to outline the butterfly and draw some shapes to make a pattern on the wings. Fill in the space around the pattern.

I love this painting
What do you do so that the colors don't bleed after being packaged into little bags?? Mine always bleed and iive been trying everything I can think of?
Hi Ellie! This post has tips on how to prevent color bleed. Scroll down a bit to find the section on Royal Icing Troubleshooting Tips: https://www.sweetambs.com/tutorial/royal-icing-consistencies/
Ellie, I have the same issue with painted cookies. I do not think it's an icing issue. I think painted cookies are just not meant to be packed. regardless of the consistency of my icing, or color gel dilution rate. my cookies always bleed when package in a bag. I am also looking for a solution for it so that I can ship mine without my client opening them like, "this looks terrible". So if anyone has any suggestion, That will be greatly appreciated. As for now, all I can think of doing is to pack them open with no seal.
How to wash leather sneakers? Leather sneakers good to wear it? For other materials for sports shoes, leather sports shoes are the most easy. Why? Mainly leather sneakers afraid of water, if the mesh or cotton, then rainy want to wear sneakers on the way it has. So leather shoes than these kinds of terms that do not know how much the stronger. Ordinary people who like to wear leather shoes. Whether it is raining or sunny, you can wear, that is not affected by the weather. But how to wash leather sports shoes?
I love to make more cookies like that i like the blending color part
Absolutely love your work! Just a quick question. When I'm decorating using royal icing and using a small tip in my piping bag,
I find sometimes my tips get jammed from the icing clumping up from hardening in the tip even when I am using it right away. Do you ever have this problem and if so what can I do to help prevent this? Thanks!
I use a toothpick in the tip. Keeps it from getting dry and clumpy.
Gave this butterfly a try enjoyed doing. Don't no if it would be fun if you had to do 50 or so thanks.
Amber... you are AMAZING! I wish I was planning a trip to Spain to attend your class... I actually have extended family there... but I digress! I've learned so much from your tutorials and look forward to more! Do have one question.... You recommend products but when I click the link the page is blank. Do you offer products that you recommend?
These are gorgeous!!! I want just an ounce of your talent. I always look forward to see what new creation you have come up with. Its so nice to see that you too had to start from some where, lol I like to think then there is hope for me too.
Fantastic as always Amber. You certainly do have a steady hand x
Thank you, Toni!
Beautiful! I love seeing old work from my cookie idols 🙂 What was use for the dots on that 'old' butterfly? I have some crown cookies to make and whatever it is looks like it would make cute gems!
Thanks, Amber! I used hot sugar and poured it into a mold. When I first attached them to the cookie, they had facets that made them look like little rhinestones! The moisture from the icing sort of melted them, though, so they turned into little dots instead 🙂
Fancy Flours sells them pre-made: https://www.fancyflours.com/product/sugar-diamond-droplets-clear/s
Congrats! Your work is really beautiful.
Thanks for share it!
Thank you, Ángela!
