The veining on these lily pad cookies was made with the royal icing wet-on-wet technique. This cookie decorating method allows you to create a smooth layer of icing with multiple colors.
The royal icing flowers can be made ahead of time and stored indefinitely at room temperature in an airtight container.

Here's what you'll need to make these lily pad cookies decorated with royal icing
These supplies are available in my Amazon store unless otherwise noted
- Chilled sheet of cookie dough (I used my orange cardamom cookie recipe)
- 2-½” round cookie cutter
- Craft knife to shape the cookies
- Royal icing
- Leaf Green, Lemon Yellow, and Rose Pink food coloring (I used Chefmaster brand food coloring)
- Scribe tool
- 4 12” Decorating bags
- Wilton decorating tips 1, 3, and petal tip 81
- Couplers & Bag ties (I used Wilton brand)
- Flower nail
- Parchment paper squares
- Bright pink edible powdered color (I used Sweet Sticks Magnolia Paint Powder)
- Decorator brush for dusting (I used Wilton)
- Edible glue (Optional - I like Satin Ice and Fondx brands)
My little trick for the "pond" is a piece of dark blue card stock, edible candy rocks that I picked up on a trip to the beach, and a piece of plastic wrap.
