4th of July Cookies!
The great thing about these 4th of July cookies is that the small gold stars are made using the royal icing transfer method, which means you can make those little guys several weeks in advance. That will save you some time later when you’re ready to bake and decorate the cookies! Make a few extra to keep on hand for another special occasion. —
Here’s what you’ll need for this project:
Roll out cookie dough (use your favorite recipe or get mine in the tutorial shop)
- 3″ round cookie cutter
- Star cookie cutter
- Star template (below)
- Flexible ruler (I made mine out of card stock)
- Edible pen
- Flood consistency royal icing in red, white, and blue
- Medium consistency royal icing in brown
- Stiff consistency royal icing in white
- Decorating tip 2
- Decorating tip 3
- 12″ decorating bags
- Scribe Tool
- Gold Pearl Dust
- Brushes
- Paint palette or small dish
- Alcohol or flavored extract (why? read this: http://bit.ly/GoldRoyalIcing)
Colors:
- Red, Blue, and Brown from the Wilton Color Right color system
Right click on the star template and save it to your computer so that you can print it out.
