Galaxy Cookies!

These galaxy cookies have been on my list of designs to try for a while now, especially after all of the requests I've been receiving on my YouTube channel!

I was hesitant at first because I really had no idea how I was going to pull it off, but I took some inspiration from galaxy nail art, mixed up some interstellar icing colors and gave it a go. I was pleasantly surprised by the results!

  1. Hi! I am about to make the icing for these cookies. If I have about 30 3” circles, how many batches of icing do you think I’ll need to ice these? I am thinking 1 lb of sugar will be enough, but I would love your input. Thank you! (Love all of your cookies!!)

    1. Thank you, Lauren! I use a 2lb batch to do 4 dozen cookies, so you might need a little more than 1lb to do 30. If you have leftover icing you can always freeze it 🙂

  2. Hi, it says that you need black, blue, purple, pink and white but in the video tutorial it seems like you use two shades of blue and the pink sort of blends in with the blue to make a purple. Did you use two blues or was that a bluish purple shade? These cookies look so cool. I'm looking forward to making them for an alien themed party!

  3. Hi Amber,
Did you have 5 separate bags of colored icing with 5 #2 tips? How did you go from one color to another so quickly? Novice here. 🙂 Thank you in advance!

      1. Thank you so much, Amber, this helps! One more question if I may..... can I make these a day or two ahead of my projected party event, and if so, how best to store them?

          1. I made them this morning, finished at 2:10pm, and by 2:30pm, my son’s first grade class had polished them off! They were a huge hit! I can appreciate the professional look of your cookies compared to mine but for a novice first-timer, I think I did pretty well. Thank you so much for your inspiration and help! I (and my son) appreciate it.

  6. Hi,
I just wanted to thank you for such a lovely post - watching the Galaxy Cookies video I was struck by just how beautiful and creative your cookie-decorating is - really edible art - I could have watched it all day - but your post is so clear as well that I now feel confident enough to give it a go myself, so I must tear myself away from the screen and crack on! Thanks again for a great post!

  7. These are amazing!! I have never worked with this medium. I am considering placing these on the sides of a fondant cake. Will the frosting stiffen to withstand being vertical for a few hours? If not, any ideas as to what might? Thanks for the help.

  8. Stunning! I'm a physicist and I'm definitely going to make these cookies as gifts for my colleagues abroad. Or at least I will try to... This design is simply genius!

      1. Hi Amber, this is to let you know I have (hopefully) two surprises for you. lol Wait, as soon as I figure out what to do with one of my surprises re sugar lace. Smiling! Hope I tingled your interest!
