Claire Pettibone Inspired Brush Embroidered Cookies

In the fall of 2011 and 2012, I had the honor of creating cookie displays for Claire Pettibone’s runway shows during New York Bridal Week. You can view last year’s display in this post.

This year, however, the dates of Bridal Market overlapped the dates of my cookie decorating class in Madrid. But, when I saw the photos from Claire’s Still Life collection, I could not resist creating a set of cookies based on those dresses. In particular, the Raven dress and Heart’s Desire were the two most inspirational for this set of brush embroidered cookies.

While I don’t have a tutorial for these specific designs, these cookies were made with some of my most commonly used techniques:

Brush Embroidery
Bead Borders
Filigree
Painting with luster dust (bronze and white)

During my class in Spain at Alma’s Cupcakes, I was introduced to Sugarflair gel paste colors, which are the most gorgeous colors I’ve ever used. Alma was kind enough to send me home with several of the gel pastes and I am already wondering what I will do when I run out! The colors shown here are Dusky Pink and Gooseberry, which are the perfect shades for a vintage look.
