Here’s what you’ll need to make these space alien galaxy cookies
The recipes and templates are available in the Cookie Art Club
- Chilled sheet of cookie dough
- Perforated baking mat (optional)
- Flood consistency royal icing
- 3″ hexagon cookie cutter
- Chefmaster Neon Brite Green, Coal Black, Sky Blue, Violet, and Deep
- Pink food coloring
- 6 tipless decorating bags
- Rubber bands or bag ties
- Scribe tool or toothpick
- Space aliens and stars templates
- Wax paper or parchment paper for piping transfers
- Airbrush or decorator brush to apply shading to the alien
- Green airbrush food coloring
- Small offset spatula
- White nonpareils
Instructions
1) Cover the alien and star templates with parchment or wax paper.
2) Fill in the aliens with green flood consistency royal icing, avoiding the eyes. Use a scribe tool to help shape the icing. Allow the icing to dry for about 30 minutes.
3) Fill in the eyes with black flood consistency icing. Use the scribe tool to help shape the icing.
4) Fill in the stars with white flood consistency royal icing. Use the scribe tool to help shape the icing. Allow the icing to dry overnight.
5) Add shading to the aliens by airbrushing the edges. If you don’t have an airbrush, you can paint the edges of the aliens with the airbrush color mixed with vodka or grain alcohol.
6) Carefully remove the royal icing transfers from the paper and set them aside.
7) Ice a hexagon cookie with black, blue, purple, pink, and white flood consistency royal icing.
8) Use a tapered spatula to blend the colors.
9) Place the alien on the cookie while the base layer of icing is still wet.
10) Pipe 3 dots of white royal icing where the star royal icing transfers will be. This will help prevent the dark icing colors from bleeding into the royal icing transfers.
11) Place the stars on the white dots.
12) Sprinkle the icing with white nonpareils.
