Olive’s 2nd Birthday Cake! And A Daniel Tiger Themed Birthday Party

Now that the holiday rush is over, I finally had some time to go through the photos I took at Olive’s Daniel Tiger themed birthday party back in November!

Like most toddlers, my 2 year old daughter has found a show to obsess over. I’m so glad it’s Daniel Tiger, because it’s a show that I actually want to watch with her!

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is a spinoff of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, which is a show I loved as a kid (and still do!). The songs are cute and catchy, (even after hearing them ten thousand times) and every show has a Mr. Rogers-esque message that comes in handy during every day life with a toddler.

So of course we had to have a Daniel Tiger themed birthday party for her 2nd birthday. Scroll down for more photos and a time-lapse video of me filling and decorating her birthday cake!

We bought the Daniel Tiger decorations at Party City. These decorations stayed up for well over a week because who has time to clean up after a party? But the metallic streamers were so cute that I didn’t mind at all.

I thought about making a Daniel Tiger cookie topper for this cake, but I really don’t like making character cookies (sorry, Olive)! So, I printed out an image and put some wooden dowel rods on the back to place on top of the cake. I also taped some paper trolleys around the cake stand for extra Daniel Tiger-ness.

I managed to film a time-lapse video of me filling and decorating the cake. It’s frosted with my Swiss Meringue Vanilla Buttercream and I used I Am Baker’s Homemade Yellow Cake Mix Recipe for the layers. The cake is filled with Jell-O vanilla pudding (I’m all for using boxed mixes when you don’t have time or energy to make everything from scratch) and sliced bananas. I meant to add Nilla Wafers but I totally forgot to add them! It was still delicious. Watch the video below.

We ordered food from Blue Mountain Bistro To Go on Route 28 in Kingston. This is the second year in a row they’ve catered Olive’s birthday party and I plan on ordering again next year! If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping in for lunch or having them cater your next party.

Here’s Olive playing with her adorable vintage style kitchen that she got from her grandma for her birthday. Find it here on Amazon in pink, blue (shown here), or red.

Our cat Missy loves it, too!

Happy birthday, little Olive!
