Galaxy Cat Cookies!

Happy New Year! For my first tutorial of 2018, I designed these galaxy cat cookies, inspired by Pantone’s Color of the Year: Ultra Violet. I don’t have a great reason for using a cat here other than I just love cats and, as my fellow cat lovers know, they basically rule the galaxy 🙂 Scroll down for the video tutorial and supply list.

Here’s what you’ll need to make these Cat Galaxy Cookies:

  1. Begin by icing a cat-shaped cookie with a dark shade of violet flood consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 3.
  2. Use a scribe tool to evenly distribute the icing.
  3. Add stars with white flood consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 1.
  4. Use the scribe tool to create a twinkling star effect.
  5. Allow the icing to dry completely.
  6. Mix pink and blue food coloring with a few drops of vodka or any flavor extract, such as vanilla, lemon, or almond.
  7. Apply the paint to the edges of the cookie.
  8. Brush the center of the cookie with white pearl dust.
  9. Ice a star-shaped cookie with white flood consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 2.
  10. Use the scribe tool to help shape the icing.
  11. Allow the icing to dry completely.
  12. Paint the edges of the star.
  13. Ice a large round cookie with white flood consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 3.
  14. Use the scribe tool to evenly distribute the icing.
  15. Allow the icing to dry completely.
  16. Use a large brush to apply food coloring to the icing.
  17. Add stars with white flood consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 1.
