Frozen-Inspired Gingerbread Snowflakes!
I’m a little embarrassed to admit that Olive and I just watched Frozen for the first time last weekend! I don’t know why it took us so long! I suppose it was good timing though because it was fresh in her mind when she saw the sequel a few days ago (her first movie theater experience!) 🙂

I was so inspired by the gorgeous colors and ice crystals throughout the movie, but especially in Elsa’s castle. The beautiful filigree designs in the closing credits immediately sparked the idea for these Frozen-inspired gingerbread snowflakes.

As you can imagine, I’ve amassed a collection of snowflake cookie cutters over the years. For this set of gingerbread snowflakes, I used 3 cutters from Ann Clark Cookie Cutters and 1 large copper cutter that I thought came from CopperGifts.com, but I don’t see this shape on their site so it’s possible it came from elsewhere.

Here’s what you’ll need to make these Frozen-inspired gingerbread snowflakes

- Gingerbread cookie dough
- Snowflake cookie cutters
- Flood consistency royal icing in white, purple, and blue
- Slightly-thinned stiff consistency royal icing in white
- Decorating Bags
- Bag ties
- Decorating tip 2 for flooding
- Decorating tip 1 for filigree
- Decorating tip 1.5 for details
- Scribe tool
- Wilton Color Right food coloring – pink & blue

Instructions
- Begin by outlining a snowflake cookie with slightly-thinned stiff consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 1.5.
- Fill the cookie with purple and blue flood consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 2.
- Use a scribe tool to help evenly distribute the icing and swirl the colors together.
- Pipe a filigree design in the wet icing with flood consistency icing and a decorating tip 1.
- Outline each section of a snowflake cookie with slightly-thinned stiff consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 1.5.
- Fill in each section with purple, white, and blue flood consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 2.
- Use the scribe tool to help shape the icing and swirl the colors together. Allow the icing to dry for about an hour.
- Pipe the details with with slightly-thinned stiff consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 1.5.
