How To Decorate Neon Splatter Cookies With Royal Icing!
A few weeks ago, Cosmopolitan sent a film crew up to my studio to create some fun cookie decorating videos for their Instagram feed. All of those bright colors inspired me to create these neon splatter cookies!

Here’s what you’ll need to make these neon splatter cookies
- Roll-out cookie dough (use your favorite recipe or get mine in the tutorial shop)
- Ann Clark Jewel cookie cutter
- Ann Clark Heart cookie cutter
- Ann Clark Diamond cookie cutter
- Flood consistency royal icing
- Flood consistency icing, thinned (it should be pretty watery, as you’ll see in the video below) in blue, pink, and green
- Stiff consistency royal icing in blue, pink, and green
- 12″ decorating bags
- Decorating tip 2
- Bag ties
- Scribe tool
- Brush
- Colors: The Wilton Color Right color system was used to create all of the icing colors in this set of cookies
The process can get very messy, so make sure you place your cookies on a piece of parchment or wax paper. See the full tutorial in the video below.

Instructions
- Bake and cool the cookies according to the instructions.
- Ice the cookies (one cookie at a time) with black flood consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 2.
- While the black icing is still wet, dip a brush into the brightly colored thinned flood consistency icing. Use a flicking motion with your wrist to splatter the cookies. You can also allow the icing to drip off of the brush directly onto the cookies for a different effect.
- Clean off the brush and use it to wipe any excess icing off the edges of the cookies.
- Allow the icing to dry completely (overnight is best).
- Pipe a border using stiff consistency icing and a decorating tip 2.
