SweetAmbs In Martha Stewart Weddings And BHG!
This month is turning out to be one of the most exciting (and busy) so far in my cookie decorating career. I just returned from filming my Craftsy class in Denver, which was so much fun! I can’t wait to share it with you. Now it’s on to the next project… my cookie decorating book! On top of all that excitement, my cookies are featured in the fall issue of Martha Stewart Weddings! It’s been several months since they first requested this design, and now I can finally share it here! Seeing my cookies in this magazine is a dream come true. It’s hard to believe that it actually happened! If you’ve been with me for a while, this design probably looks familiar to you. I made a similar ombre cookie a while back, but this one is a little bit different because I used a basket weave technique. You can see the tutorial for my original ombre brush embroidered cookies here. Just like in the original design, I used 6 shades of Wilton delphinium blue and stiff consistency royal icing. This basket weave is a little bit different than my normal technique only because of the varying thicknesses between the long and short lines. The easiest and quickest way to do this is by adjusting your pressure on the piping bag accordingly, but you can also switch tips from a 2 to a 3 to change the thickness. Go pick up a copy of the fall issue of Martha Stewart Weddings (it’s the one with Lauren Conrad on the cover)! I also have some cute monster cookies featured in the Anders Ruff party section in the Halloween issue of Better Homes and Gardens! Click on the images below for cookie decorating tutorials!
