I’ve always been drawn to this rustic style – maybe it’s because my parents lived on a farm in Virginia when I was born. I guess my first Christmas spent on a farm has stuck with me all these years!
I tried out a different technique for the base layer of icing on these Barn Door Christmas Cookies. Rather than icing them as I usually would, I painted a thin layer of icing on the raw cookie and then baked it to give it more of a rough finish. This technique is also great for those who prefer a cookie with just a little bit of icing! Scroll down for the supply list, instructions, and video tutorial.

Haniela’s and I have been online cookie friends for a long time, although we have yet to meet in person!
